The registration process requires the following information: Aadhaar number of the proprietor or the authorized signatory, PAN (Permanent Account Number) of the business entity, name of the business entity, type of organization (proprietorship, partnership, private limited company, etc.), postal address and contact details of the business entity, date of commencement of business, and previous registration details (Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum or any other registration, such as GST).

As per the new definition, the investment limit for micro-enterprises has been increased from Rs. 25 lakhs to Rs. 1 crore, and for small enterprises from Rs. 5 crore to Rs. 10 crore. This change in the definition has resulted in many MSMEs becoming ineligible for the benefits of Udyam Registration.
